The Wii Remote gives me such a boner. It’s just perfection. To hold it. To swing it. Or you can wrap it up in rubber and squeeeze it. When it vibrates I can’t contain myself.

And can you actually imagine… playing Wii Sports Boxing let’s you hold one in each hand. *Shudders. Just makes me wanna…

I’m stunned the Nintendo 64 isn’t listed. That form factor was really sexy, especially stacked up against the utilitarian (but of course, far more successful) PlayStation. N64 also helped usher in the era of analog sticks that are so integral today. So where’s the love?

If I had to pick from this list only, the New Nintendo 3DS XL or the GBA SP would be my choices.

If overall, I personally feel the Wii U takes the cake.

Edit: I just want to add how much I still love the Gamecube design. It’s just simple and the handle made it easy to transport from one place to another. Not to mention, it lent itself to being available in multiple colors

I’m torn. I like the clean design of the Wii, but it’s not exactly exciting. I’d probably go with the Super Famicom (but not the US version!). Why do they lump the Super Famicom and SNES together when they have completely different shells, but they list a specific edition Game Cube and 3DS that amount to nothing more than a paint job? I thought the Game Boy Micro looked cool, but I’d have to completely ignore ergonomics to consider it. I played one once and it was not a good match for my big man hands.

For me it’s the Wii. Clean, simple and iconic. Also, the subtle design elements that carry across from the various pieces, most notably the one angled corner on the console is also on the power brick and the plastic “buckle” on the Wii remote strap and the LAN adapter.

Of those, the GB Micro. But wouldn’t really describe any of the above as “sexy” – they’re a bit too garish and chunky for the most part.

@gcunit It’s a sleek design compared to the chunky looking systems that came before and after (GBA SP, and original DS). Plus I think it gets a few bonus points because not many people bought it so now it has the mystic of the one that got away.

I gotta say, I’d go with either the Switch, the original 3DS, or the Micro. SNES isn’t bad at all and looks like a strong evolution of the NES design, but the Switch looks like a nice, cleanly built tablet; sleek and to the point and screams minimalism at it’s finest. The GBA Micro and Original 3DS also have so much personality in such a simple form factor.

Yup, Game Boy Micro, the one in the picture specifically. It’s my favourite.

When it’s got to be cute, it’s the Pikachu GBA SP or Pikachu N64.

Beautiful, that would be a Zelda themed one, I think maybe the original LoZ:OoT 3DS.

Cool looking, then it’s the Gamecube, but plain indigo (that is THE GC colour here, despite that I have 4 different colours of it, including the Tales of Symphonia one that I really like as well) WITH a GBA player, so it’s actually a cube (with a handle… A HANDLE!) and plays all games of both systems I have the most nostalgia for.

I really wanted the purple OG 3DS that was shown in promotional artwork, but I don’t believe that it was ever released? (can anybody clarify?)

The green DSi XL was also reallllly sexay (I love darker shades of green), and while it was released in Europe, I believe, it was never released in Australia. I definitely would have sprung for the green had it been released here, but I otherwise couldn’t justify forking over AU$300 for such a negligible update from my DS Lite (though I still yearn for one so that I can play DS games at their native resolution on a larger screen).

Purple being my favourite colour, I absolutely LOVE the purple Joy-Con (I’d love a right one to complete the set), though the Purple-Orange combo is gorrrrrgeous all the same.

I also loved the limited edition Pokémon Game Boy Colors from back in the day, but I never owned any sort of console until I bought a DS in June 2005. I would still like to grab a GBA SP one of these days. While the form factor of the GBA SP is one of my least favourite in the GBA line, it has a rechargeable battery and an in-built backlit screen, which makes it the most attractive overall. After all, it’s what’s inside that counts. I would also like a GB Micro, but the price of brand new units is pretty ridiculous, and I only own a handful of GBA games, which makes the cost all the more difficult to justify.

Not the GameCube. It’s not even a cube unless you whack the Gameboy player underneath!

The GBA got my vote. It had that classic Nintendo robustness with a much more grown-up design than the purple original. You could fold it up, throw it in a bag and not have to worry about anything.

The Wii was the sexiest home console ever made until the Xbox One S came out. That dinky little box was incredible next to the monolithic PS3. The clever vertical stand gave it a lovely physical 1-point perspective.

My personal favourite is the Gameboy Color. The AA battery curve on the back made it more comfortable to hold and when I was 15 the purple colour looked well cool.

I have an orange SNES. O.K it’s … brown. (Caused by Bromine released during exposure to U.V)

Second only to the heartache suffered when the rubber in buttons and joysticks goes all soft and gooey.

@HalBailman Super NES (JAP/EUR) for me. I remember taking it out of the box and being wowed, and then went to the kitchen and placed it on the table to show my mother. I’ve never done that with any other system before.

…and then you were like ‘look mom, it’s looks like the underside of your vacuum cleaner!’

  Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

The DS Lite is the most beautifully designed system ever. The rest of these are tramps compared to a supermodel.

I’m not surprised to see the GameCube be massively overrated in a poll on here, as usual. Inferior controller, ugly system, worst 3d Mario game, most overrated Zelda game. The only great thing about it was Metroid Prime.

I actually thought the red Wii mini looked really cool. I want to get one just for the novelty.

The SNES is an absolute work of art, love it. Funnily enough the US version is an absolute disaster.

@BongoBongo123 I did just that, got one just to have one. In functionality though it’s inferior as it only outputs in AV, no S-Video and no component.

It’s another ridiculous decision by Nintendo. Imagine if the Super Slim PS3 took out the HDMI port.

While not a great system, I feel the Wii Mini is a damn sexy console.

In my view, the Wii was one of those consoles that even with the redesigns of the PS3 and 360 mid-gen, the Wii just seemed to continue to look classy and actually a premium product…. Well, compared to the Wii Mini anyway.

I think the Pearl White Gamecube deserves a shoutout, that thing is beautiful.

”The Game Boy Advance SP solved that issue with the addition of a backlight…”

Why claim it had the addition of a backlight, which is patently false, only to go on and explain that it’s actually a frontlight? Why not just say, accurately, that it had the addition of a frontlight? What possible sense does it make?

Also, the GBA SP is one of the ugliest, most awful systems ever and it’s far worse than the original GBA. Furthermore, the frontlight you erroneously called a backlight, was absolutely HORRENDOUS. Because of the way it angled the light in a crossing beam pattern, it created a permanent glare effect and visual disparity where the screen was oddly darker at points and brighter at others. It was worse than using a clip on Gameboy light and those were terrible, too.

Not to mention the tiny form factor of the boxy system was painful for large hands and unwieldy, as well as easy to break because it had substandard hinges.

@mjharper It didn’t have a backlight. It had a horrible frontlight.

The list is invalid without the N64, the obvious choice for sexiest console probably ever out of all of them.

It’s obviously the N64. It’s a disgrace that is not on the list. Second place would be the European SNES. Last place would be the US SNES.

NES Classic GBA SP for me. It looks nifty when closed, but as soon as it’s open, that NES controller look at the base of the system make me think “Ooo, hey there sexy.”

Runner ups: Onyx GBA SP (look sexy when closed, but too plain when opened, especially compared to the NES version), SNES New 3DS XL (love EU’s different colored buttons, but the top of NA’s system when closed), & the LoZ: ALBW new 2DS XL.
